Major Interests
Oxidative stress, inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or motor neuron disease, also commonly called Lou Gehrig’s disease. Therapeutic development for ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases.

Research Interests
The goal of my research program involves the understanding of mechanism(s) of motor neuron degeneration in ALS, development of efficacious therapeutic strategy for ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases. Oxidative stress and inflammation are considered to be important in the pathogenesis of ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s. Currently, we are examining molecules that are critical players in oxidative stress, inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction.
